Because it is colder indoors during winter, the switch for the bedroom light is not next to the bed. I don't want to get out of bed every time to turn off the light, so I have always thought that setting up these smart home devices would be expensive and haven't done it. Until I came across a Bluetooth switch while watching videos.
Bluetooth Switch#
It is a device that can control the light switch using Bluetooth. Power source - Bluetooth switch - transformer for the light - light. That's all you need. This thing is very cheap, just over ten yuan is enough. Because it needs to differentiate between the live wire and the neutral wire, I spent a little over one yuan to buy a voltage tester pen and successfully connected it.
Xiaomi Speaker#
Then I downloaded the Mi Home app to control the light switch, but because I don't have a gateway, I need to connect the device every time, which is a bit time-consuming. So I wanted to buy a Xiaomi speaker. In the end, I bought the Redmi Speaker Play for 36 yuan with free shipping. Then another problem came up. I don't have a network cable at home, and the Xiaomi speaker needs to use the internet for voice recognition to control the light switch. A smart speaker without internet is basically useless. But fortunately, my friend Xia Mu bought a router to connect to the nearby Han Ting's Wi-Fi, so I used their internet. It tested out to be quite stable, just a bit slow in response, hahaha.
Problem#
Because the light is composed of several LED beads, each bead has a relatively low requirement for electricity. Even when the switch is turned off, the Bluetooth switch still needs a small current to pass through to stay on standby. This small current can cause the LED beads to emit a faint light, which is a bit uncomfortable for someone with OCD. Online, it is said that a safety capacitor can solve this problem, so I bought two, but it still didn't solve the problem. It may be because the parameters of the ones I bought do not match the actual situation. But now I'm too lazy to bother with it, so let it be.
